DE TENEBRIS AD LUCEM - PSYCHOTHERAPY

From the unconscious to the light

Benedict Gauthier (he/him/his) is a dedicated and compassionate psychotherapist who is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families achieve greater well-being and healing. As a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in the state of Florida, Benedict is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care to his clients. He is currently supervised by Dr. Porshia Cunningham, LMFT.

Benedict holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, California, and his approach to therapy is grounded in trauma-informed psychodynamics. Psychodynamics is a therapeutic approach that focuses on exploring the unconscious motivations and emotions that influence a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This approach emphasizes the importance of understanding how past experiences, particularly those from childhood, can shape a person’s current mental health and relationships. By using a psychodynamic approach, Benedict helps his clients to gain insight into the underlying causes of their emotional distress and to develop healthier coping mechanisms and relationships. He believes that every person has a unique story, and he works collaboratively with his clients to understand their experiences and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Benedict is also fluent in English, French, German, and Spanish, and he is able to provide therapy in all four languages. This makes him a valuable resource for individuals and families who may feel more comfortable communicating in a language other than English.

In addition to his clinical work, Benedict is also an active member of the American Psychological Association and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. He regularly attends conferences and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in mental health and wellness.
